RALEIGH– Last week, NC Child, a statewide nonprofit that advances policies that improve the lives of all North Carolina children, named TowneBank their 2024 North Carolina Child Health Champion.

The North Carolina Child Health Champion award celebrates the commitment and positive contributions an individual or organization has made in service of creating better health outcomes for North Carolina’s children and families. NC Child named TowneBank the recipient of this award at the reception following the close of the nonprofit’s inaugural State of the Child Summit.

TowneBank served as presenting sponsor for the State of the Child Summit, which was held by NC Child in partnership with the North Carolina Institute of Medicine (NCIOM), engaged more than 250 parents, community organizations, industry leaders, and legislators and decision-makers around some of the most pressing issues facing North Carolina’s children and families. The Summit held panels on childcare access and affordability, the youth mental health crisis, maternal and infant health, the child welfare system, oral health, and family economic security.

“TowneBank’s steadfast dedication to improving the lives of North Carolina’s children and families shone through in how they supported NC Child and the State of the Child Summit,” said NC Child Executive Director Erica Palmer Smith. “Any individual or organization can be a champion for the health and wellbeing of North Carolina’s children—TowneBank provided that to us from the start, and it was the strength of their commitment and partnership that led to us naming them the 2024 North Carolina Child Health Champion.”

At the reception following the State of the Child Summit, Smith gave the inaugural award to TowneBank Triangle President Brian Reid. ”NC Child is building brighter futures for children across the state,” said Brian Reid, TowneBank Triangle President. “With our commitment to serving others and enriching lives – especially the youngest and often most vulnerable – TowneBank is honored to partner with NC Child as they advocate for youth across North Carolina.”

“We could not be more grateful for a partner like TowneBank,” said Smith. “Thanks to their support, generosity, and belief in our mission, we’re able to improve and enrich the lives of North Carolina’s children, together.”
