Medicaid and NC Health Choice are vital programs for the well-being of North Carolina’s children, serving around 40% of all children in our state. Together with parents and caregivers, NC Child constantly works to improve and protect these critical programs.
NC Child’s Parent Advisory Council is an advocacy group of parents and caregivers from across the state whose children rely on Medicaid for their health care. The goal of the Parent Advisory Council is to ensure that the true experts on Medicaid and NC Health Choice have a say in how these critical programs work for North Carolina’s children.
WHO: You! Dads, Moms, Grandparents, and Foster Parents whose children get health care thanks to Medicaid and/or NC Health Choice
WHAT: Join the NC Child Parent Advisory Council (PAC)
WHEN: Deadline to apply for the 2021 Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is January 4, 2021
WHY: To have a big impact on children’s health coverage and care in North Carolina, and to learn more about being an advocate for your kids and your community.
The Parent Advisory Council‘s goal is to make sure that Medicaid and NC Health Choice provide the health care your children deserve. In 2020, NC Child PAC members met with leaders at NC DHHS and state legislators, created public service announcements, took part in media stories, gave input on important proposals about children’s health care, and more.
We are excited to announce that we are looking for 4 more parents and/or caregivers to join the PAC. We are especially interested in recruiting new members from Western NC.
To participate in the PAC you must have children who are covered by Medicaid or NC Health Choice. NC Child will cover all costs associated with participation, including meals, travel when necessary, and childcare. In 2021, most meetings will take place via Zoom or conference call.
