Today is my last day at NC Child. Before I go, I want to send one final, heartfelt thank you to everyone who made my time at this agency so meaningful and who helped us make such a huge impact on North Carolina’s children and families during my time at NC Child.
When I joined the staff in 2014, Action for Children and the Covenant for North Carolina’s Children had recently merged to become NC Child. Back then, we were a small but mighty agency with a track record for success and high hopes for what we could achieve for kids and families.
Over the last eight years, we’ve become an even stronger voice for children and families in North Carolina thanks to the hard work of our staff, the leadership of our Board of Directors, the incredible advocates in our Child Advocacy Network, and the generous investments from our foundation partners and donors.
I have said this a few times, but I want to say this again because it is so very true … NO ONE does this work alone. I have been lucky enough to spend these last eight years working with so many brilliant, passionate, strategic, kind, funny, caring, thoughtful and fierce child advocates. You have inspired me, supported me, and helped me learn and grow. And I am forever grateful that I have had the opportunity to work with you.
And now I’m ready to pass the baton to our new Executive Director, Erica Palmer Smith, who will begin her work at NC Child on September 19, 2022. I am thrilled to welcome her to NC Child and eager to see our team thrive and this important work continue with her leadership.
Before I go, I’m so excited to share some VERY good news! So many of you responded with generosity when I asked you to join me in making a gift to launch NC Child’s Impact Fund. With your incredibly generous gifts and pledges, not only have we met our ambitious $100,000 goal, but we have exceeded it! If you’ve already given or pledged – thank you!! You made this happen! And it’s not over yet, my friends. If you’re able to chip in before we close the campaign this week, your contribution will give us the steady support we need to keep speaking up for kids now and into the future. Click here to donate.
Again, THANK YOU for an incredible and impactful eight years at NC Child. And now as my colleague, Adam Sotak, always says – onward!
