On Wednesday, April 17, hundreds of advocates, parents, service providers, (and even a few children!) convened on the Halifax Mall at the North Carolina General Assembly for 2013 Child and Family Day.
Their message: North Carolina must prioritize the needs of children and youth in budget and legislative decisions. Research shows investments in children and their families generate dividends, improving child well-being; reducing achievement gaps for low-income students; and saving taxpayers money through a broader tax base, reduced crime and violence and decreased reliance of social services.
