In 2014, NC Child was a scrappy start up with a few staff and limited resources. Eight years later, NC Child is a mature, high impact organization with a dynamic staff of 18, led by a strategic and visionary leader, Michelle Hughes.

As you may already know, in August, Michelle will step down as Executive Director. This is a bittersweet moment, as we begin to plan both a farewell to Michelle, and a warm welcome for our next Executive Director. With the support of search firm Armstrong McGuire, NC Child’s board is leading a nationwide search to identify the next visionary leader to continue our work for children and families in North Carolina.

“The next few years will be decisive for North Carolina’s children. I am very excited by the opportunities that new leadership can bring to NC Child – to our program work, our partnerships, and our impact for children.” – Michelle Hughes

We’re delighted to announce that the search is on for our next visionary leader. You can read the job description (and apply!) here.  If you have questions, please reach out to the talented team at Armstrong McGuire, who are shepherding our board and staff through this important process.

“I hardly know where to begin to express my gratitude to Michelle. Few people have the grit, the determination, and the vision for children to take what was a struggling organization and move it to the powerful place where we now find ourselves at NC Child.” -Kimberly Glenn, Board President

Your partnership and support mean so much to us always, but especially during this leadership transition and as we move into this next phase of opportunity and growth. Thank you.
