On April 16th, at Voices for Children, Cassandra Brooks gave a powerful call to action on behalf of early childhood education. Mrs. Brooks, the winner of the Tom Vitaglione Child Advocacy Award, is the owner of two child care centers in Johnston and Wake counties. She grew emotional talking about the heroic efforts and hardships that child care providers and teachers have faced over the last year. Mrs. Brooks and Michelle Hughes, NC Child’s executive director, called on all of us to ensure that the funds from the American Rescue Plan meet the need – and the amazing potential – here in North Carolina.
